6 Indications Of Hormonal Imbalance In Women

For a woman’s body to remain fit and healthy, the hormones have to be in balance. But there can be periods when the hormones go out of balance and cause several health issues. This can happen due to pregnancy, menstruation, excess weight and so on. Sometimes, such changes are very hard to identify. So, to help you out with it, we look at six symptoms that indicate a possibility of hormonal imbalance in women.

Some women might experience irregular sweating, mostly at night. They may also have to deal with hot flashes from time to time, having to go through an uncontrollable feeling of heat. These may be potential warning signs of a hormonal imbalance. But before you jump to conclusions, it is recommended that you note down such incidents together with your diet routines. And if you still are unable to find a reason as to why you are experiencing the hot flashes and night sweats, then it may be better to consult a doctor to check if these are happening because of hormonal imbalance.

Poor Sleep

When your body’s hormones are out of balance, then your sleep pattern can be affected. You will face difficulties in sleeping continuously and may wake up in the middle of your sleep.

Weight Gain

In case you have been gaining weight recently, and you have not been consuming any extra food, then the weight gain can be the result of hormonal imbalances. This is especially true if your endocrine system has been disturbed due to some reason, which can result in an overproduction or underproduction of certain hormones. So, if the excess weight remains even after changing your diet and working out, you should consult with your doctor to see which hormones are out of control in your body.

When hormones like leptin and ghrelin are in balance, then your hunger is kept in check. While leptin reduces the feeling of hunger when you consume food, ghrelin increases your cravings when you haven’t eaten for long. If these hormones go out of balance, then you will start feeling uncontrollable hunger and may be prone to eating too much. As such, if you have been experiencing severe cravings for the past few weeks, then your body’s hormone levels are probably imbalanced.

Constant Acne

Acne is a natural outcome of clogged skin pores. But sometime, you might see a huge outbreak of acne occurring regularly. This may be caused due to low levels of androgen hormones in your body.

Dry Vagina

Another indication of hormonal imbalance is when the walls of your vagina become too dry. You might suffer from itching as a result. Engaging in sexual activity will not only be highly discomforting but can also be quite painful. This mostly happens because of a drop in the estrogen levels in the body.

So, if you have been suffering from any of the above symptoms for too long, then it might be an indication of a hormonal imbalance in the body. It is recommended that you consult your doctor as soon as you can to avoid worsening the situation.
